Overview D/E/F Services Group, Ltd S2 HVAC Technician Apprentice 40 Research Parkway, Old Saybrook, CT 06475 Salary: 16.00 - 24.00 USD / HOUR At D/E/F Services Group, Ltd we build as a design/build and general construction services contractor in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, low voltage and carpentry. The Heating & Cooling Journeyperson’s Apprentice is responsible for learning and understanding the craft with the goal of becoming a skilled Heating & Cooling Mechanical Journeyperson. The apprentice will observe, work with, and be directly accountable to the Heating & Cooling Journeyperson who installs, maintains and repairs HVAC and piping components including air conditioning, warm air and refrigeration systems. The Heating & Cooling Journeyperson’s Apprentice must be registered with the State of Connecticut Office of Apprenticeship Training. To obtain a State of Connecticut D2 License an apprentice must complete 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, 432 hours of schooling, and pass a written exam upon completion. First & Second Year Apprentices will learn basic electrical installation skills from an actively licensed Heating & Cooling D2 Journeyperson. Third- & Fourth-Year Heating & Cooling Journeyperson’s Apprentices will continue to learn and perform advanced tasks under the direct oversight of the Heating & Cooling D2 Journeyperson. Licensed Heating & Journeypersons can pursue career paths in field installation, service, estimating, field & site supervision, and project management. Benefits Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance with Employer Contribution Voluntary Ancillary Insurance Options such as Life Insurance, Short-Term, and Long-Term Disability D/E/F Days which provide 6 days off per year in addition to the 6 federally recognized holidays Family Medical Leave & Paid Time-Off after accrual Local & National Retailer Discounts Essential Traits for Success Perform general labor and clean-up as requested, or as needed Assemble, install, test, and maintain warm air systems, including air conditioning, refrigeration, etc. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools Inspect heating & cooling systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for repair to ensure safety Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, aerial lifts, drills, and hand tools Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain HVAC systems, piping, or other related equipment Pull pipe or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed or open areas, and be comfortable working with your hands Receive, properly store job site materials for effective job site coordination Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to consistently follow written processes and procedures Excellent mathematical skills are preferred Ability to read and understand blueprints Ability to stand, lift, and maneuver weights that may exceed 50 lbs Education, Licensing & Experience Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Active apprenticeship with current academic enrollment and completed OJT hours Current OSHA 10 Certification is preferred Active Driver’s License with reliable transportation Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans. #J-18808-Ljbffr D/E/F Services Group, Ltd
