RN - ICU

This is a travel position for an RN in the ICU at UCSF Health Medical Center at Parnassus. The shift details are 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM, with three shifts per week totaling 36 scheduled hours. The contract start date is 09/01/2026 and ends on 02/23/2027, lasting 25 weeks. The position requires the ability to float to other UCSF facilities and departments. Candidates must have completed references in hand at the time of submission. For faster movement, please confirm in submission that candidates have the required experience with the following specialties/devices: ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA catheters.

Required: CA RN License, BSN, ACLS, BLS, travel nursing for 1 year or less in the past 5 years, minimum 4 years recent ICU experience, ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year, experience caring for ECMO patients as a bedside RN, experience caring for ECMO as primary responsibility without dedicated bedside perfusion support, ability to independently manage complex critical care patients, strong interpersonal communication skills.

Strongly preferred: CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience, simultaneous management of multiple support devices (e.g. ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP), potential red flags include ECMO experience limited to a perfusionist-managed environment where bedside RN had minimal ECMO-related responsibility, no recent ECMO experience, limited or no experience with advanced cardiovascular critical care populations, limited experience with mechanical circulatory support devices beyond ECMO.

Recommendation: Candidates should be assessed based on their ability to function within the UCSF ICC care model rather than ECMO experience alone. Prior ECMO experience should be considered one component of a broader competency profile that includes cardiovascular critical care, transplant, mechanical circulatory support, and multi-organ support therapies.
