Dental Hygienist (Greater Roslindale Medical & Dental Ctr)

Position: Dental Hygienist Department: Roslindale Medical & Dental Center Schedule: Part Time Essential Responsibilities / Duties Provide direct oral health screenings, including assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting, and measuring blood pressure and pulse. Takes and develops dental radiographs (x‑rays). Removes calculus and plaque (both hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth. Applies preventive materials to the teeth such as sealants and fluorides. Promotes oral health education and literacy; teaches patients and families on proper oral hygiene strategies, including tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling. Counsels patients and families regarding good nutrition and its impact on oral health. Completes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs). Performs documentation and office management activities. Schedules and coordinates referrals for restorative and specialty care when needed. Follows hospital infection control and safety procedures. Meets hospital standards of performance and conduct, including patient rights and customer service. Job Requirements Education: Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene school. Licensure: Registered dental hygienist in Massachusetts with a current license. Experience: Five years of experience in oral health education and promotion preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; working knowledge of word processing and database management; ability to collect, organize and analyze data. Ability to perform oral health screenings and dental charting. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $30.05 – $43.75 (hourly) based on education, experience, skills, and certifications.
