Senior Chem/Met Lab TechnicianOverview Triumph Geared Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Chem/Met Lab Technician for our Park City, UT location. We are seeing a self-motivated individual who thrives with minimal supervision, demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, and collaborates effectively across diverse teams and functions. The Senior Chem/Met Lab Technician will help lead all aspects of the Chemical & Metallurgical Laboratory Team, developing and implementing a vision to ensure all customer and regulatory requirements are met and that laboratory processes are continually improving in efficiency and quality.ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day activities and priorities of the Chemical/Metallurgical Laboratory to support the businessDaily collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, test, and manufacturing to ensure high quality products are delivered to our customers on timeCollaborate to maintain and develop processes and methods for Heat Treat activities in accordance with AMS 2759 and AMS-H-6875 standards.Solve difficult and complex heat-treating problemsParticipate in the daily Metric Tier meetings to ensure production issues are escalated appropriatelyContribute and participate in providing guidance/training to the site in respect to upcoming changes to NADCAP by actively staying abreast of industry changes.Act as the main focal point for NADCAP Audits for Chemical Processing and Heat Treat.Perform a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactionsAnalyze compoundsConduct process capability studies, calculate statistical information, and interpret results.Use computer to perform all technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory procedures and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirementsPerform technical procedures in multiple areas and prepare for evaluationsKeep records that conform to company requirements and regulatory requirementsOversee material hardness testing in accordance with ASTM E-384, ASTM E-18, ASTM E-92 and ASTM E-140 standardsProvide technical assistance in heat treatment testing and validation methods and equipment specifications to ensure compliance with internal and external heat treatment requirementsIndependently manage multiple projects and activities to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement goals while meeting planned deadlinesFollow all prescribed safety rules and regulationsBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Chemistry or in the area of Material Science5+ years of experience in a chemical/metallurgical testing laboratory environment in aerospace industryFamiliarity/experience with AS9100 and NADCAP Heat Treating regulations/compliance and ASTM & ASM standardsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and industry specificationsAbility to organize and prioritize multiple tasksStrong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with an organization at all levelsExcellent problem-solving skillsDemonstrated work ethicAbility to take the initiative to become involved in activities to help resolve problems and make improvementsExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficiency in utilizing Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Chemistry or in the area of Material ScienceFundamental knowledge of microstructure-property relationships in case and through-hardened steels used in bearings and gearsExperience in the development and validation of Heat Treat processes in accordance with NADCAP standardsExperience with optical and electron microscopy and standard metallurgical analysis equipment (i.e. sample preparation, x-ray diffraction, etc.)Experience in failure analysis and failure prevention methods and activitiesLean / Six Sigma ExperienceAS9102 First Article Inspection experienceAS13100 knowledge/experienceGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) trainedAdditional InformationAll Positions at Triumph Geared Solutions require access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other US government security regulations.
