GAS Pipefitter

Overview MasTec Utility Services delivers critical infrastructure construction and engineering services for power delivery, gas, and water customers. The company specializes in overhead and underground electric distribution, gas distribution construction, and turnkey solutions for various water, sewer, and civil infrastructure projects. Job Summary The Gas Pipe Fitter is an integral position in the construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution infrastructure. This role performs fusing tasks on new construction, repair, and maintenance of gas utility lines and related systems, including fusing pipe casings, vault lids, pipe fittings, hot gas mains, repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes, and fabricating special parts. Responsibilities Support crew with handling and fusing gas pipe. Fuse pipe that is ditched or drilled in the ground. Ensure every fuse meets quality standards. Keep tools in complete working order. Locate utilities by hand with a shovel and probe. Manage inventory on the truck. Teach other employees how to fuse pipe to the correct specs. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year of gas pipeline experience. Preferred: Class A CDL. 2 or more years of gas pipeline experience. Operator Qualifications (OQs). Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a field environment and requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, and work in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, wind). Workers must lift, bend, and carry up to 50 pounds, have clear vision at specified distances, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to distinguish colors.
