Job Description Position Summary Clinical Psy.D. faculty members may be responsible for teaching, student advisement, chairing dissertations, research/scholarship, professional service to the School and community, and administration. Faculty members are expected to teach in accordance with TCS's workload policy; adjustments to an individual’s teaching load may be made by the Department Chair based on department needs and individual talents. Department faculty are recommended to the Vice President of Academic Affairs for hire by the Department Chair. The department seeks an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student‑centeredness, professional development and scholarship, integrity and ethics, respect for diversity and pluralism, innovation, flexibility, and teamwork and collaboration. Principal Duties Teaching Teach over the course of three semesters (at least 18 units) Hold office hours on a weekly basis Remain current in field of study and update course content to reflect new knowledge Prepare course syllabus and plans in accordance with Department requirements Select textbooks and teaching aids as required Deliver classroom instruction including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, or other appropriate modes of education delivery in a higher education setting Develop, and regularly update, a system for ongoing evaluation of teaching and student learning Supervise doctoral research Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: Psychological assessment Psychometric theory Psychoanalytic psychotherapy Diversity Ethics and law Advising Maintain an advisee load according to Department needs Spend time with advisees to provide mentorship on academic, curricular, and career development Mentor advisees in preparing their vitae and training application materials, and write recommendation letters Assist the Department Chair in documenting student progress; when necessary, craft individual Academic Development Plans for advisees, track compliance, and document progress Present advisee progress at semester Student Review meetings, meet with advisees to gather additional information or communicate Faculty concerns, and report back to Faculty Scholarship Scholarship may include qualitative/quantitative research, presentations at professional conferences, scholarship‑based community service, etc. Professional Service Maintain scholarly activities that further the practice of professional psychology Foster education of, and interest in, student service in the community Engage in community service Administration Participate in departmental functions, including but not limited to student progress analysis, faculty searches, admissions activities, curriculum development, mentoring new faculty, and other related duties as assigned Attendance at faculty meetings and participation in the Faculty Assembly is expected Serve on committee(s) as agreed upon with the Department Chair, including departmental and institutional committees Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Teaching experience of at least five years preferred Record of scholarship and community service preferred Ability to behave collegially and professionally with all members of the TCSPP community Ability to adhere to the highest professional conduct and ethical standards of the profession of psychology Ability to engage in responsibilities with promotion of TCSPP mission and reputation in mind at all times Position Qualifications Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or Psy.D. required from APA‑accredited program Licensed or license‑eligible in California (license must be obtained within two years of hire) Disclaimer The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. Compensation & Benefits This opportunity is budgeted at $75,000 - $85,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
