We are seeking a hands-on Materials Planner / Buyer to support U.S. manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for material planning, procurement, supplier management, and change control activities that ensure materials are available to meet program schedules. The position will work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams while helping transition planning processes from spreadsheets into scalable ERP/MRP systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain material plans based on BOMs, engineering changes, and program schedules.
• Create, place, and manage purchase orders, including supplier follow-up, expediting, and delivery tracking.
• Partner with contract manufacturers to manage demand, shortages, and material alignment.
• Support and execute engineering change orders (ECOs/ECNs), ensuring suppliers and manufacturers are working to current revisions.
• Maintain accurate planning and procurement data within ERP, MRP, and PLM systems.
• Identify material shortages, long-lead items, and supply risks, and develop mitigation plans.
• Work directly with suppliers on quotations, lead times, commitments, and delivery performance.
• Track material readiness, purchase order status, and supply risks against build schedules.
• Support the implementation and improvement of planning processes, reporting, and system capabilities.
• Provide regular updates on material availability, supply risks, and procurement status to leadership and program teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field;
  equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years of combined materials planning and purchasing experience in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, space, or other complex manufacturing environments.
• Experience with BOM-driven planning, MRP/ERP systems, and purchase order management.
• Experience supporting engineering changes (ECOs/ECNs) and assessing their impact on inventory, cost, and schedule.
• Strong understanding of inventory management, lead times, supplier performance, shortages, and material readiness.
• Experience working in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
• Ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in both spreadsheet-based and ERP-driven planning environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting aerospace, satellite, space, defense, or other high-reliability hardware programs.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers (CEM/EMS), PCB suppliers, or electronics assembly partners.
• Experience planning or procuring electronic, electromechanical, or long-lead components.
• Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change control processes.
• Experience implementing or improving ERP, MRP, or PLM systems.
• Familiarity with systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, IFS, Agile PLM, Priority, or similar platforms.
• Experience in AS9100 or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• APICS, CPIM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma, or Project Management certifications are a plus.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 with the potential for a bonus. Ramon.Space will consider relevant work experience, skills, education, and training when putting together an offer for this position.
