Pharmacy Tech III - Chemotherapy and Hazardous Sterile PreparationsUnder the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the pharmacy technician responsible for preparing chemotherapy, hazardous, and other medications for patients in Centers for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) in both inpatient and clinic settings.Responsibilities:Inventory management of chemotherapy and supportive care mediations in the CCBD pharmacy satelliteResponsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining integrity of sterile compounding areasMaintain and monitor proper documentation of compounding, cleaning (including deactivations and decontamination of hazardous drugs), testing, and certification of equipment and compounding areasFunctions both independently and in a team environmentCompounds chemotherapy and related medications with high efficiency and delivers medications throughout the CCBD spaceTriages and streamlines medication compounding to effectively compound high cost and short dated chemotherapyEfficient operation of specialty machinery, equipment, and technology (e.g. baxa pumps, dispense prep and check)Perform additional responsibilities as necessaryWork Experience:At least 5 years experience as a hospital pharmacy technician requiredEducation:High school diploma or GED required20-hour ACPE accredited IV training course requiredLicenses and Certifications:Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Registered Technician requiredNational Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferredChemotherapy certification course (required for Sterile Compounding and Chemotherapy Pharmacy Technician). Effective 10/1/2025 team members will have 180 days to obtain certification in 180 Days requiredCompletion of PTCB-recognized medication history certificate exam (for transitions of care pharmacy technician) preferredA Place Where You Belong:We put our people first.
