Clinical Director

Organization: Roberta’s House

Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 annual

Supervisory Scope: Clinical staff, support staff, and interns

Under the direction of executive leadership, the  Clinical Director provides clinical leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Roberta’s House Mental Health Group Practice. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and grief-responsive behavioral health services while maintaining full compliance with federal, state (Maryland OMHC), and CARF standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Direct Care

• Provide clinical direction, vision, and governance for outpatient behavioral health services.
• Maintain a small active caseload delivering direct therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups.
• Provide clinical consultation for complex family systems and lead emergency/crisis interventions.
• Represent Roberta’s House at community, governmental, academic, and interagency advisory meetings.

Staff Supervision & Intern Program

• Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, credentialing, and performance evaluations for clinical staff.
• Deliver advanced clinical supervision (diagnosis, ethics, crisis management, self-care, and cultural competence).
• Coordinate mandatory staff/volunteer trainings and oversee intake packet completion and case audits.
• Manage the academic intern program: serve as university liaison, execute contracts, assign placements, and oversee field learning agreements.

Operations, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

• Direct daily operations to ensure timely, compliant documentation (assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries).
• Ensure strict compliance with Maryland OMHC licensure guidelines and CARF accreditation standards.
• Oversee referral workflows, case assignment, billing workflows, and monthly program reporting.
• Partner with leadership on strategic expansion, community partnerships, senior center group programming, and specialized state grant initiatives (MCHRC).

Qualifications

Licensure & Education (Strict Requirement)

Must possess  one of the following current, unrestricted Maryland licenses eligible for independent practice and clinical supervision:

• LCSW-C: Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited institution with Board-approved clinical supervisor status in MD.
• Psychiatrist: MD or DO with an active MD medical license and Board certification/eligibility in psychiatry.
• Psychologist: PhD or PsyD with active MD psychology licensure.

Skills & Expertise

• Deep knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, trauma-informed/grief-responsive care, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Strong command of federal, state, and local behavioral health regulations (CARF, OMHC).
• Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR), case management software, and reporting platforms.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and operational management skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds.
