About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: - 3-5 years experience in specialty - Level III trauma experience preferred Description: The position is for the Emergency Room. The unit consists of 15 beds with a 6-bed fast track open from 9 AM to 10 PM. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Typical patient ratios are 1 to 4, depending on patient acuity. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner (First Net). Charge Nurses are present and may take a small patient load if needed. Nurse Aides and unit secretaries are available 24/7. Technicians are available for 20 hours a day. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holidays are incorporated into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. Central monitoring of ER patient strips is done through Phillips. Ventilator care is part of the responsibilities. A physician is present in-house at all times. Mid-level providers are available from 9 AM to 2 AM. There is no IV team on-site. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours, with various start times. Schedules are made 30-45 days in advance. Floating duties are not required. Floor-specific orientation lasts 2-3 days on the unit. Common diagnoses and types of patients include strokes, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and a significant number of psychiatric patients. The unit experiences approximately 100 patient visits per day, including about 500-600 pediatric patients monthly. Cancellations may occur up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using the Cerner system. A BSN is not required.
