Head Show Groom / FEI Groom – Aiken, SC

Rocking Basilisk Farms, a private, high-end sport horse breeding and show jumping operation in Aiken, SC, seeks an experienced Head Show Groom for a full-time, long-term position.

We seek a skilled, organized, dependable professional with proven FEI grooming experience, exceptional horsemanship, and leadership abilities. Strong English and Spanish communication skills are essential for coordinating barn staff.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily care of upper-level show jumpers and stallions.
• Prepare horses for national and FEI competitions and travel to shows.
• Supervise grooms, organize schedules, and delegate duties.
• Coordinate with riders, trainers, veterinarians, and farriers.
• Monitor health, soundness, behavior, and welfare.
• Administer prescribed medications, including IV and IM injections under veterinary direction where permitted.
• Manage feeding, supplements, treatments, and rehabilitation protocols.
• Maintain accurate care and medication records.
• Organize show equipment, tack, packing, clipping, and presentation.
• Maintain exceptional cleanliness, safety, and organization.

Requirements:

• Proven FEI show grooming experience.
• Strong English and Spanish proficiency.
• Experience supervising staff and handling valuable competition horses.
• Knowledge of equine first aid and veterinary aftercare.
• Reliable, proactive, detail-oriented, and independent.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
• Legally authorized to work in the USA.

Must have proven FEI show grooming experience and strong working proficiency in both English and Spanish. Excellent horsemanship, leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential. Must be confident handling upper-level competition horses and stallions, supervising staff, and managing individualized veterinary, medication, and feeding protocols. Must have experience safely administering intravenous (IV) and intramuscular (IM) medications and injections under veterinary direction, where legally permitted. Strong knowledge of equine first aid, injury management, and rehabilitation care required. Must be reliable, professional, proactive, and capable of working independently. Willingness to travel to competitions, a valid driver’s license, excellent references, and legal authorization to work in the USA are required. Experience driving a truck and horse trailer is a plus.

Housing stipend provided or private studio apartment available on the farm, subject to availability. On-site accommodation offers convenient access to the equestrian facilities. Housing arrangements will be discussed individually based on the successful candidate’s needs and preferences.
