Lecturer – Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology – Rausser College of Natural Resources Position Overview Position title: Lecturer. Salary range: UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. Reasonable salary estimate for a full‑time Lecturer is $75,301 - $199,722. Percent time: Typically part‑time. Position Description The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology (NST) in the Rausser College of Natural Resources invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in Nutritional Science and related topics. The NST examines the metabolic biology of nutrients and toxicants in relation to human health and disease, covering topics from nutrient delivery to mammalian cells and their molecular functions, to genetics’ influence on diet‑associated disease, to programs that address human and environmental health. General Duties Delivering lectures and holding office hours. Planning and preparing lessons; researching and developing new topics, teaching materials, and online resources. Supervising Graduate Students Instructors (GSIs) when applicable. Mentoring students and contributing to departmental and program activities, when teaching in dietetics. Coordinating lab preparations with the Teaching Lab Staff, when teaching a lab course. Developing exams, projects, and assigning grades. Maintaining accurate student records, monitoring progress, and addressing special student needs. Maintaining knowledge of, and implementing, college policies. Qualifications Basic qualifications Completed Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent international degree) by the time of application. Additional qualifications (required at start) For NST Non‑Dietetic lecturers: completion of a Ph.D. or M.D. by the start date of the job. Preferred qualifications For NST Dietetic lecturers: completion of a Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree in dietetics, nutrition, food service, public health, or a related field at the time of application. Five years or more of professional experience in dietetics practice. Registered Dietitians with demonstrated ability to teach professional courses in the DPD curriculum. Leadership experience and demonstrated commitment to the profession of dietetics. For Food Service Management instructors, the applicant should have the ServSafe Protection Manager certification. For NST Non‑Dietetic lecturers: experience in teaching biological lab techniques. Advanced degree in Bioscience. Application Requirements Curriculum Vitae – most recently updated C.V.
