Social Work Residency Senior Clinical Supervisor LCSW

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Clinical Supervisor, LCSW is a member of the program's leadership team and is primarily responsible for the clinical supervision and professional development of licensed staff providing treatment in the clinic. They are also responsible for implementation and oversight of evidence-based or innovative clinical services or models of care. Senior Clinical Supervisors are expert clinicians who teach, coach, and supervise Social Work Residents individually and in groups, in partnership with Jewish Board’s Social Work Residency Program and outside evidence-based trainers. Senior Clinical Supervisors are expected to already have or work toward and become credentialed in a residency program evidence-based model, often requiring them to carry and be supervised on a small caseload. The Senior Clinical Supervisor, LCSW ensures clients receive timely access to quality clinical services, including during crises; oversee functions to support program’s clinical operations; and ensures program compliance with Federal, State, and City regulatory bodies, CARF and funding entities.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Clinical Services:

Responsible for staff development and provision of evidence-based or new clinical services or models of care to effectively meet the clinical needs of the individuals/families and communities we serve. EBM implementation support is required for, but not limited to, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Duties are as follows:

• Identify gaps in clinical services at the program level and develop potential solutions to fill the gaps.
• Lead the implementation of evidence-based treatment or have direct oversight and responsibility for innovative models of care, in partnership with The Jewish Board’s training department and/or external agencies.
• Work with program leadership to identify and assign clients that would benefit from the evidence-based models used in the Residency program.
• Participates in evidence-based practice training and consultation, and supports implementation of evidence-based models by Social Work Residents
• Ensure all assigned staff maintain an active caseload size as defined by clinic executive leadership.
• Works with clinicians to maximize time providing direct care to clients.
• Teaches, assesses, and monitors skills such as completion of timely notes, time management & organizational skills.
• Develops clinician's competency to provide individual, group and family therapy.
• Teaches person centered treatment planning and ensures treatment planning is interdisciplinary, and client driven.
• Keeps written supervisory notes, up to date and reflective of clinician's strengths and areas for improvement.
• Provide direct services to clients, as needed, including intakes and crisis interventions.
• Develop strategies to ensure clients have timely access to care and increased engagement in care
• Supervision of crisis intervention services
• Implementation of quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in quality assurance activities such as chart reviews and utilization management.
• Integrate recovery, rehabilitation, treatment, and vocational components of the program.
• Monitor and follow up on program incidents
• Oversees clinicians with a combined caseload of up to 600 clients if all staff being supervised are LCSW. If combined LCSW and LMSW supervisees, oversee combined caseload of 450 clients.
• Provide weekly supervision to Social Work Residents and non-resident clinicians as needed
• Collaborate with program leadership on quality improvement initiatives

Personnel:

• Responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing to support clinical care and evaluating staff performance. Duties include the following:
• Participating in hiring and orienting of new staff
• Collaborate with the Learning Department in recruiting and orienting new Social Work Residents
• Timely completion of performance appraisals and appropriately and clearly addressing performance concerns
• Conducting or participating in staff training and development
• Monitor staff attendance and vacation scheduling to ensure program coverage
• Supervision of staff, as appropriate to licensure

Administrative Functions and Program Operations:

As part of the leadership team, responsible for ensuring program operations are conducted efficiently; the program remains in compliance with relevant regulatory entities and is fiscally viable. Duties are as follows:

• Facilitate team meetings, case conferences, and other meetings assigned
• Ensure program and staff are compliant with regulations and standards of care that govern the program
• Utilize a variety of electronic databases to monitor billing and address any fiscal or billing issues that arise
• As part of program management, identify and develop systems to improve program operations
• May serve as back up to the Director or other supervisors; may assume responsibility for operations
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively implement change management
• Demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret data
• Demonstrate the ability to make data driven decisions
• Participate in residency program quality improvement and assurance activities, including completion of surveys and evaluations
• Liaise and collaborate with the Social Work Residency/Learning Department team on a regular basis

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in social work and New York State clinical licensure in social work (LCSW) plus at least 5+ years or more of experience working in clinics as a supervisor and /or certification in at least one evidenced based model. Solid clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices. Prior experience in DBT, CBT, Trauma Focused CBT, EMDR, or CPP preferred, but not required. Excellent organizational skills, leadership, teamwork and communication skills. Experience working with electronic medical records and proficiency with Microsoft Office
