Lead Restoration Technician / Crew ChiefVoda Cleaning & Restoration – St. Louis, MO Position Overview Voda Cleaning & Restoration is seeking an experienced Lead Restoration Technician / Crew Chief to manage and execute water mitigation, mold remediation, and fire/smoke restoration projects. This role is ideal for an experienced restoration professional who understands the science of drying, proper documentation for insurance claims, and how to lead restoration projects in the field. The ideal candidate can run jobs independently, lead small teams, communicate professionally with clients and adjusters, and keep projects moving forward without constant direction.Project LeadershipLead restoration projects from start to finish including water mitigation, mold remediation, and fire/smoke cleanupManage other technicians on job sitesEnsure jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and according to industry standardsMaintain organized, professional job sitesJob Assessment & Drying StrategyPerform job assessments and moisture mappingDevelop drying strategies and determine proper equipment selection and placementSet up and monitor drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, and specialty systemsDocumentation & Job ManagementMaintain accurate job documentation required for insurance claimsCapture before, during, and after photosRecord moisture readings, drying logs, and equipment logsWrite clear job notes explaining work performed and drying progressRestoration WorkPerform and oversee restoration tasks including:Water extractionStructural dryingDemolition of affected materialsMold remediationContainment and negative air setupsHEPA filtration and air scrubbingFire and smoke cleanupClient CommunicationCommunicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, and insurance adjustersExplain the drying process and next steps to clientsRepresent the company with professionalism and integrityStandards & SafetyEnsure work complies with IICRC S500 and S520 standardsMaintain jobsite safety and proper PPE useProtect customer property and maintain cleanlinessEmergency ResponseParticipate in on-call rotation for emergency water damage responseThis Role Is Ideal For Someone WhoHas run restoration jobs independentlyUnderstands proper documentation for insurance claimsCan confidently lead 1–3 techniciansTakes ownership of projects and solves problems in the fieldIs comfortable communicating with customers and adjustersThis Role Is NOT For Someone WhoHas only performed basic demolition or labor tasksNeeds daily supervision to complete workIs uncomfortable interacting with clientsLacks experience with restoration equipment or documentationQualifications2–5+ years restoration experience (water, mold, or fire)Ability to run mitigation or remediation jobs independentlyStrong understanding of drying principles and moisture monitoringExperience leading small crews preferredCertificationsIICRC WRT requiredASD and/or AMRT preferredTechnical Skills Experience with drying equipment, truck mounts, moisture meters, etc. Other RequirementsValid driver's license with clean driving recordAbility to lift 50–75 lbsComfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and various environmentsStrong communication, time management, and problem-solving skillsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly wage based on experienceCommission on restoration jobsOvertime opportunitiesOn-call pay for emergency responsePaid training and IICRC certificationsPerformance bonusesAdvancement opportunities within a growing companyGrowth OpportunitiesThis role can grow into leadership positions such as:Restoration SupervisorProject ManagerJoin Our TeamIf you are an experienced restoration technician who takes pride in doing restoration work the right way and leading successful projects, we would like to hear from you.
