Substitute School Nurse

POSITION TITLE: Substitute School Nurse

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Holds a current Registered/Practical Professional Nurse License in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Minimum of two years supervised nursing experience in Community Health
• Current Certification in CPR

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Dispense medication following guidelines
2. Performs first aide; treat minor illness following guidelines
3. Perform specialized medical procedures
4. Document student immunization records
5. Notify the parents by note or telephone call any time a child is seen in the clinic if the illness or injury warrants further observation
6. Assess for communicable diseases
7. Performs screenings (vision, blood pressure, height, weight)
8. Screen new students who enter during the school year
9. Ensure that Individualized Health Care Plans are completed as necessary

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintains confidentiality
2. Participates in crisis intervention
3. Maintains OSHA standards in the clinic
4. Presents and communicates in a professional manner
5. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
