Business Intelligence Engineer

Overview Our client is seeking a highly analytical, business-facing BI Engineer to help turn complex data into clear, trusted reporting and insights. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with stakeholders, building high-quality dashboards and reports, and serving as a key bridge between business users and the data team. The right person will bring strong Power BI, SQL/DAX, data modeling, and communication skills, along with the confidence to own complex reporting initiatives from requirements through delivery. Job Details Job Type: Direct Hire Location: Greater Chicago area (hybrid 3 days a week onsite) Compensation: This job is expected to about $110-120k with an industry leading benefits package No Visa Sponsorship Available for this role. No C2C. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that provide accurate, actionable insights. Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, answer reporting questions, and translate needs into technical solutions. Write optimized queries and support complex business analysis through reports, dashboards, and ad hoc requests. Assist with data modeling, reporting-focused ETL improvements, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and data governance. Provide training, documentation, mentorship, and user support to help teams better use self-service analytics tools. Qualifications Strong business intelligence and analytics experience in a senior‑level BI, reporting, or data‑focused role. Advanced experience with Power BI and strong knowledge of SQL, DAX, Python, R, or related languages. Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL best practices, reporting performance, and data quality. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with non‑technical stakeholders and explain data clearly. Experience with Git/GitHub, documentation, ticketing systems, and an understanding of machine learning or AI concepts related to BI.
