What You'll Do as a Pharmacist:

• Provide comprehensive medication therapy management to promote safe, effective, and cost-efficient patient care
• Review, verify, and manage medication orders while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies
• Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds and collaborate with providers on medication-related treatment decisions
• Perform medication reconciliation and monitor patient response to therapy
• Provide patient and caregiver education regarding medications and treatment plans
• Deliver drug information and dosing recommendations to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Support timely and accurate medication distribution while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety
• Precept and educate pharmacy students through clinical and practical learning experiences
• Maintain compliance with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and departmental policies
• Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and compassionate patient care that reflects UNC Health Appalachian's mission, vision, and values

Qualifications:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required

Experience

• One (1) year of clinical patient care and medication order management experience preferred

Licensure / Certification

• Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the State of North Carolina

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacotherapy and medication management
• Ability to prioritize patient needs while exercising sound clinical judgment
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and electronic health records
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and professional accountability

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the workday
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or transfer up to and greater than 50 pounds as needed
• Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, reaching, and manual dexterity
• Prolonged computer use and close visual work
• Ability to read medication labels, electronic health records, and pharmacy documentation accurately

Working Conditions

• Hospital-based pharmacy environment with frequent interaction among patients, providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Exposure to medications, hazardous drugs, chemicals, biological specimens, and pharmacy equipment
• Required adherence to medication safety standards, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies
• Schedule may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities based on departmental needs
• Fast-paced environment requiring effective prioritization, multitasking, and collaboration to support safe, timely patient care
