These individuals appreciate the value of every person that walks through our doors and are the key to our culture of Service Excellence.As a Coding Specialist in our Medical Records department, you will accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and PCS codes to all applicable patient encounters and actively participate in our Clinical Documentation Improvement Program. You will develop and maintain positive relationships with our patients, guests, and other team members by striving for excellence in service and quality. For our team members this is more than a career, it's a calling.You will be responsible to:Identify and code all patient encounters in your assigned queuesAccurately calculate APC groupingUnderstand policies, procedures and federal guidelines that apply directly to coding and other work performed within the Medical Records DepartmentUnderstand the utilization of Coding References: ICD10 CM, PCS and CPT books, AHA Coding Clinics and CPT AssistantCommunicate current and revised coding changes and clarifications to ancillary departments and Medical Staff membersReview injection, infusion, OPS and ER charges for accuracy while assigning codes for billingAdhere to the requirements of the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services and other regulatory agenciesWhat you will need:High School Diploma, classes in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology2 years of acute care/hospital coding experienceExperience with Cerner and Solventum/3M preferredExperience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams preferredRecommended certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC or CCS-PEffective communication skills requiredThis position is fully remote.
