Aircraft Mechanic III (CBA)

Essential Responsibilities Support highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications of aircraft structures, complexes and engines. Maintain and repair aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and provide guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data (blueprints and manufacturer manuals). Execute inspections including preflight, through‑flight, basic post‑flight and phase inspections; launch and recover aircraft as required. Conduct operational checks of all aircraft systems and maintain aircraft appearance and cleanliness. Operate all associated ground support equipment and use hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft. Perform all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft and annotate maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms with associated IMDS entries. Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness and prevention and maintain safety at all times. Perform other duties related to the occupational field as assigned, including TDY and travel. Work day shift, second shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift as required. Become proficient to perform maintenance in three classifications (aircraft general, jet engines, and pneumatics) through Cross Utilization Training (CUT). Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment. Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and operation of portable firefighting equipment. Ability to read, interpret and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications. FAA A&P certificate. Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US citizenship required). Ability to obtain and maintain a flightline driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Three years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $53.84. Health, dental and vision insurance.
