Overview Job Description - Financial Compliance Associate or Senior Auditor (26141071) Position Title: Financial Compliance Associate or Senior Auditor - (26141071) The Legislative Audit Division (LAD) , part of the Montana State Legislative Branch, is constitutionally tasked with auditing State agencies and programs. Our mission is to increase public trust in state government by reporting timely and accurate information about agency operations, technology, and finances. Responsibilities Interview personnel at the audited agency Test controls and account balances Use analytics to evaluate transaction cycles Form conclusions on assigned audit work Collaborate with team members Test compliance with federal regulations and state laws Qualifications What You Need (minimum requirements): Bachelor’s degree by start of employment 6 semester hours (or equivalent quarter hours) of relevant upper division accounting coursework, including intermediate accounting courses. Other combinations of education may be considered. 2 years of financial auditing experience What Makes You Stand Out: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Sound written and verbal communication skills Ability to work well independently and as part of a team Good interpersonal skills CPA license or intent to sit for the CPA exam preferred, but not required Project management and leadership skills to supervise and provide technical assistance to teams of 2-4 auditors Strong organizational and detailed documentation skills Ability to gather, analyze, and draw conclusions on audit evidence across state and federal programs General knowledge of applicable audit and accounting standards General knowledge of statistical research principles, practices, and procedures Where You’ll Work Our office is located in Helena , the capital of Montana and the center of state government. Helena offers access to outdoor recreation and a reasonable commute, with duties performed in agency buildings around Helena and occasional travel to agencies outside the city (e.g., universities). Compensation and Benefits Salary (starting): Associate at $63,806; Senior at $69,604. Salaries are negotiable based on experience.
