Job Description

The Production Supervisor works on the shop floor as a hands-on working lead, overseeing a team of approximately 5–10 skilled employees. Depending on your leadership strengths and core technical background, you will lead a welding, fabrication, or assembly/production team. You guide daily operations, support your team with practical assistance, and help drive production goals while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of 5–10 skilled production employees on the shop floor in a hands-on capacity.

• Assign daily tasks and priorities based on production requirements and team strengths in welding, fabrication, or assembly/production.

• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, stepping in to assist with welding, fabrication, or assembly work as needed.

• Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and production drawings to ensure accurate and efficient completion of work.

• Oversee the use of hand tools and power tools to perform industrial, sub-assembly, and machine assembly tasks safely and effectively.

• Monitor production output to ensure goals, quality standards, and deadlines are consistently met.

• Coordinate workflow and resources to optimize productivity and minimize downtime on the shop floor.

• Train, coach, and mentor team members to build skills, promote safe work practices, and encourage continuous improvement.

• Support production management by communicating progress, issues, and resource needs in a clear and timely manner.

• Ensure adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and best practices throughout daily operations.

• Assist with problem-solving and troubleshooting production issues to maintain smooth operations.

• Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work area in the new fabrication and production facility.

Essential Skills

• Proven leadership experience in a production, fabrication, welding, or assembly environment.

• Hands-on supervisory experience overseeing small teams, ideally in a shop floor setting.

• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and production drawings.

• Experience with assembly work, including industrial assembly, sub-assembly, and machine assembly.

• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a production or fabrication environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of production processes.

• Experience in production supervision or production management support.

• Ability to measure accurately using tools such as tape measures and apply precise measurements to fabrication or assembly work.

• Strong communication skills to direct, coach, and support team members effectively.

• Ability to balance hands-on work with supervisory responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in welding, fabrication, or assembly/production that aligns with leading a specialized team.

• Experience in a new or growing manufacturing environment.

• Exposure to structured production systems and best practices in shop floor organization.

• Demonstrated ability to adapt to flexible duties based on team needs and core strengths.

• Interest in growing with a company and taking on increased leadership responsibilities over time.

1st shift: 6am - 2:30pm (Monday - Friday)

OT hours: 6am - 4pm (Monday - Friday)

2nd shift: 3:00pm - 1:00am (Monday - Thursday) 10% shift differential

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeville, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
