Senior Business Analyst – Commercial Risk Management (Strategy & Analytics) As a Senior Business Analyst at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. This Senior Business Analyst position sits within Commercial Risk Management’s Strategy & Analytics team, which develops and implements risk rating (underwriting) and loss forecasting models across the Commercial Bank. Serving as a key analytical lead for upcoming model builds, this position bridges quantitative modelers and senior business leaders. The candidate will leverage big data tools and visualization platforms (such as Tableau and QuickSight) to evaluate model prototypes through a business lens, using data‑driven storytelling to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights that secure stakeholder buy‑in. General Responsibilities Analysis: Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations. Product: Perform modeling/analytics to assist new product/models for various lines of business within Commercial Bank. Credit Risk: Support step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer and commercial credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis. Execution: Involve problem frameworks, develop hypotheses, test and analysis, solution development, scope operational feasibility, lead implementation efforts and develop a monitoring plan. Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: Model Development, Credit Officers, Underwriters, Relationship Managers, Finance and others to drive improvement in our credit risk modeling. Previous consulting experience is a plus. Basic Qualifications At least 2 years of professional experience performing analysis Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration. McLean, VA: $111,200 - $126,900 for Sr. Business Analyst New York, NY: $121,300 - $138,400 for Sr. Business Analyst Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
