Build and Lead Your Own Insurance Agency — District 61 is Hiring

Farmers Insurance District 61 is hiring entrepreneurial, licensed (or license-track) professionals to lead and grow a retail insurance agency in Richmond, VA. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity with full ownership of your book of business and renewals, commission-based earnings with no cap, and structured onboarding and mentorship from District 61 leadership backed by a Fortune 500 brand.

Ideal Candidate

• Background in insurance, financial services, or entrepreneurship/business ownership; competitive, results-driven backgrounds (e.g., athletics, military, sales leadership) also valued
• PC and Life/Health/Annuities licensed, or willing to obtain (district office support provided)
• Strong leader, self-starter, comfortable managing a team

Responsibilities

• Establish, staff, and operate a retail Farmers Insurance agency in the Richmond, VA area, with continued training from the district office
• Develop and execute a local sales and marketing strategy to grow new business
• Build and maintain client relationships across auto, home, life, business, and specialty lines
• Recruit, train, and manage agency staff and producers as the book of business grows
• Oversee agency operations, budgeting, and compliance with carrier and regulatory standards
• Partner with the District 61 support team on training, growth planning, and best practices
• Stay current on insurance products, industry trends, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Insurance industry, entrepreneurial/business ownership, or comparable leadership experience preferred
• Current Property Casualty and Life, Health Annuities licenses, or willingness/ability to obtain prior to launch (district support available)
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to lead a team and/or manage a business independently
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Commitment to continuous professional development
• Ability to pass a background check
