Mental Health ClinicianThe St. Johnsbury School is seeking to hire a Mental Health Clinician to join their team of a mental health clinician, a school psychologist, 3 school counselors and 3 nurses. St. Johnsbury School is a preschool through grade 8 public school located 2 minutes from Exit 21 on I-91. We have approximately 550 students and approximately 250 employees in the school.Provide clinical mental health services to St Johnsbury students. Clinicians will be part of the St Johnsbury treatment team (includes District clinicians, school psychologist, administration, school counselors and nurses). The critical work of the school-based clinician includes intervention for specific diagnoses. Educational Support Team services and other applicable school prevention and support models. The clinician's position is child-centered, family-focused requiring collaboration between and among families, agencies and community.Essential Functions and DutiesProvide individual therapy; establish, document and implement treatment plans;Create and maintain electronic clinical records following VT OPR ethical standards;Conduct psychosocial evaluations and assessments;Behavior planning, family work and consultation within the school setting with consistent opportunities for collaboration with teachers and school administrators;Regular collaboration and peer support, participation in school crisis response team or district crisis response team with other District and/or community mental health team members;Liaison and/or expert consultant between school and intensive interventions/residential, services, home and community based, mobile crisis, crisis beds; facilitate and ensure communication, linkage, and continuity of care between students, families, physicians, other organizational components, community resources and service providers;Support school and district promotion of mental health supports and prevention;Train other clinicians, school counselors, school nurses, teachers or educational support staff;Participate in professional development as requestedUnderstand diagnosis, assessment and treatmentUnderstands multicultural studies, career development/lifestyle appraisal, research and evaluation;Attend school-based staff meetings as requested(for purposes of school safety trainings, required district trainings or crisis response); attend meetings or provide input regarding clients on caseloads for IEP, 504 or EST;Clinical skill and experience to assess, plan, develop, coordinate and provide treatment, support services to students with mild, moderate and persistent mental health needs, disorders, illnesses or disabilities;Provide crisis intervention assessments and recommendations to school leaders, school teams and families;Establish linkages and coordination of services with community agencies;Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with community service providers;Inform clients and families of the availability of community advocacy and support groups;Participation in group supervision as scheduled throughout the school year;Participate in clinical team case consultation and crisis response protocols; andOther duties as assigned.QualificationsMust have completed a graduate degree in Social Work, Clinician Mental Health, or Clinical Psychology.An internship in clinical mental health work needs to be completed, or in process of completion prior to hire.License eligible upon hire, licensure completed within 2 years of hire.Supervision hours toward licensure can be included with this position for LCMHC and Clinical Psychologist candidatesMental RequirementsStrategic ThinkingProblem-Solving/Decision-MakingEmotional Intelligence/Empathy and CompassionStress ManagementMultitasking and time management/DelegationCommunication with listeningCommunication both in writing and verballyAttention to detail and Critical ObservationCultural Competency and InclusivityEthical Decision-Making and IntegrityGeneral Health and WellnessPhysical mobility in all directions, lifting, carrying, walking, stair climbing and descending, physical presence, verbal communication, hearing, vision, and agility to move quickly and efficiently in emergency situations. While not extreme, the ability to stay active, alert, and responsive is important.The salary follows the Teacher's Collective Bargaining Agreement and is based on years of experience and educational level. The position isn't part of the Teacher's Association. The mental health clinicians get vested in the State Municipal's Pension after 5 years of service. Mental Health Clinicians work 186 days each school year. They receive 15 sick days, 5 personal days, and 5 bereavement days. BCBS of Vermont is the health insurance. The employer pays the first $2200 for single coverage or $4400 for multi-person plan of the out of pocket costs plus 100% of prescription costs. Employer pays for single dental coverage, employee's life insurance and employee's long term disability insurance. We have an amazing Employee Wellness program.
