Location: Louisville, KY Schedule: 10am-6pm, Monday through Friday Projected duration: 3 months + potential for permanent Job code: CVDJP00034570 Benefits are available Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrates technique with straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understands all physicians\' orders and matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by the test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Packages specimens for transport and stores samples according to required temperature controls. Places samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and labels them correctly; follows protocol to maintain specimen integrity for transport. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months\' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. #J-18808-Ljbffr H. T.
