BACKGROUND

Forestdale is a NYC child welfare agency working to prevent child abuse/neglect through parenting, prevention, and foster care services, focusing on low-income and immigrant communities in NYC. Forestdale operates out of three offices to better serve the families of Brooklyn and Queens. We help thousands of families work through complex trauma, parents raise the next amazing generation of children, and youth successfully launch into adulthood. Forestdale’s mission is “to ensure that children and families have the fundamental assets they need to thrive and live independently.”

  S alary Range: $42,000 -$48,500

Essential Functions:

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the foster care program.
• Submit request for vital records (birth certificates, and SS card).
• Assist and link clients with resources and services within the community.
• Provide administrative assistance by covering reception desk and Executive Office as needed.
• Assist with driving children to and from school during educational transitions and other appointments.
• Accompany clients to appointments and advocate for client providers.
• Provide assistance with administrative details for the foster care program.
• Maintain contact with service providers.
• Complete home visits with families as requested.
• Monitor Family Time for child and family.
• Provide assistance to clients with applications for concrete services like fair hearings and public assistance.
• Document case notes in Connections, the foster care system of record
• As needed, cover reception desk
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services
• Self-motivated, organized, compassionate and creative.
• Have a working knowledge of the child welfare and family court systems.
• Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred. 
• An understanding and respect for community needs and cultures.
• Willing and capable of working with multicultural families.
• Ability to develop working relationships with children and adults using good interpersonal skills, 
• Organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to travel in and around the metropolitan New York City region.
• Ability to maintain composure and function well under stress. 
• NYS driver’s license
