As an Advanced Certified Medical Assistant, you will work closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and mid-level providers to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their families.

General Summary

The Medical Assistant operates within their scope of practice to support clinical staff by performing patient care duties, managing administrative tasks, and maintaining a professional and organized workspace. This role requires excellent multitasking abilities, critical thinking, and a warm, patient-focused approach in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling.
• Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, and verify medications, allergies, and medical histories as directed by providers.
• Document patient information accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
• Manage phone communications, including routing messages and assisting with patient inquiries.
• Communicate test results to patients and assist providers with follow-up calls.
• Administer medications (oral, IM, SQ) and perform point-of-care lab testing as ordered.
• Schedule appointments, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries per provider instructions.
• Complete necessary paperwork such as prior authorizations and referrals efficiently.
• Maintain exam room supplies and cleanliness, ensuring readiness for patient visits.
• Educate patients and guardians on electronic health record portals and assist with enrollment.
• Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.
• Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and adaptability while maintaining punctuality and attendance standards.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is mandatory.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role is preferred, especially in a clinical setting.

Certification and Licenses

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited organization such as AMT is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions with patients may occur. The role involves handling blood and bodily fluids with minimal physical discomfort.
