SENIOR BOOKKEEPER

Job Summary We’re looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join our growing accounting firm. What You’ll Do Take ownership of advanced bookkeeping tasks for diverse clients, including reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of financial statements, all in compliance with firm standards. Process payroll and related filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare sales tax reports, quarterly filings and other routine compliance submissions. Provide responsive client support, including accounting guidance, software assistance, and troubleshooting. Support onboarding and training of new staff and assist clients in transitioning between accounting systems. Collaborate across departments to ensure timely delivery of books for tax preparation and participate in process improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate documentation and oversee month‑end close processes using standardized checklists. What We’re Looking For Minimum Requirements Several years of hands‑on bookkeeping experience (typically 5+ years). Proficiency with QuickBooks and willingness to learn new software as needed. Experience preparing payroll and payroll tax filings. Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal staff. Ability to work independently and problem‑solve issues as they arise. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, including AI‑powered tools. Willingness to work overtime during peak tax season. Willingness to collaborate across departments and office locations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. Experience preparing financial statements, compilations, or similar engagements. Advanced QuickBooks knowledge or experience supporting client transitions between systems. Experience training or mentoring bookkeeping staff. Familiarity with tax workflows and how CAS deliverables feed into tax preparation.
