Production Manager

Production ManagerSupervise and coordinate daily machine shop activities, including CNC machining, manual machining, setup, tooling, inspection, material flow, and job prioritization. Assign work to machinists, handwork assemblers, and support staff based on production schedules, skill levels, machine availability, and customer deadlines. Monitor production progress throughout the shift and adjust resources or workflow as needed to meet delivery, quality, and productivity targets. Ensure employees follow safe work practices, company policies, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and housekeeping standards. Review job travelers, blueprints, work instructions, setup sheets, inspection requirements, and specifications to ensure jobs are understood before production begins. Support troubleshooting of machining issues, tooling problems, machine downtime, fixture concerns, dimensional nonconformances, and process inefficiencies. Verify that first-piece, in-process, and final inspections are completed according to quality requirements and customer specifications. Train, coach, and mentor machine shop employees in proper setup practices, machining methods, quality expectations, safety procedures, and shop standards. Coordinate with production planning, engineering, quality, maintenance, purchasing, and management to resolve issues and keep jobs moving through the shop. Maintain accurate production records, labor reporting, scrap documentation, downtime notes, and shift handoff information. Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce setup time, improve machine utilization, reduce rework, minimize waste, and improve workflow.
