Director, Development

Provides principal support to the HCC Foundation by raising funds to benefit HCC students and programs based on the priorities set forth by the HCC Chancellor and HCC Foundation Board. Essential functions include contacting individuals, corporations, and foundations on behalf of the HCC Foundation, managing a portfolio of 150 prospects, participating in prospect research activities, cultivating potential contributors, designing and developing solicitation strategies, personally soliciting gifts, stewarding major gift donors, creating and presenting major gift proposals, communicating with faculty and staff to determine scholarship opportunities, maintaining and managing a comprehensive grant, and staying abreast of current technical processes regarding major gift solicitation, annual fund programs, stewardship, volunteer management, and external relations.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business, development, communications, or a related field, five years of experience in work-related fundraising/stewardship programs, a valid Texas driver license, proficiency in MS Office programs, information management systems, budget management, donor management systems, and competencies in delivering high quality work, accepting responsibility, serving customers, supporting organizational goals, driving continuous improvement, acting with integrity, thinking critically, managing change, and communicating effectively. Working conditions include general office environment, ability to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations, remaining in a stationary position, moving items weighing up to 25 pounds, operating job equipment, applying established protocols, accessing and retrieving information from technology devices, and communicating with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours, including weekends and holidays. Security sensitive positions are subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215.
