Locums - Portsmouth, Ohio, Pathology Opening (IMLC Accepted)
RecruitWell is seeking a Board-Certified Pathologist for a locums opportunity in Portsmouth, Ohio. This is an excellent opportunity to join a robust lab practice with a collaborative pathology team and consistent weekday schedule.
Position Details- Location: Portsmouth, Ohio
- Start Date: July 6, 2026
- Contract Length: Through December 4, 2026
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
- Practice Setting: Hospital / Laboratory
- Coverage Needed: Full-time
- Join 2 other Pathologists
- Support staff includes:
- 3 Histotechs
- 2 Tech Assistants
- 2 Cytotechnologists
- Facility can accommodate multiple providers
- EMR: Meditech
- Dictation: Dragon
- Lab sees approximately 200-250 reads per day, divided among three pathologists
- Each pathologist averages:
- 30-50 surgical cases per day
- 10 cytology cases per day
Case mix includes:
- Surgical nephrology
- General pathology
- GI
- Breast
- Minimal hematology
- GYN / Non-GYN
- Very limited neuro
No neuro, pediatrics, or autopsies
All heme-path cases, including bone marrow, are sent to Integrated Oncology.
Rotation SchedulePathologists work on a 3-day rotation:
Day 1
- Grossing (40-50 cases)
- Frozen sections (1-4 per week)
- Call coverage from 4:30 PM-8:00 AM
Day 2
- Read out
- Order IHC / Special stains
Day 3
- Cytology
- Bronch suite support
- Cytology case read out
- Comfortable with grossing specimens
- FNA / Rapid Interpretation required
- Frozen sections
- Surgical pathology sign out
- Cytology interpretation
- Call coverage for assigned and unassigned patients
- 30-minute call response time required
- Board Certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology - Required
- Fellowship Preferred
- Active Ohio license required
- IMLC accepted
- BLS required
