Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy TechnicianSupports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHelps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities & prepping compounds for pharmacist admixtures when neededMaintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Assist with copay assistance programUnderstand and be able to explain the purpose and importance of 340B within our organizationWork on numerous projects surrounding 340B and growing the pharmacy in compliance with statuteSkillsExceptional written and verbal communication skills.Proficient with pharmaceutical technology and equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and phone systems, as well as MS Excel/Word/Outlook, Electronic Health Record systems and automated medical scheduling and billing programs.Excellent interpersonal skills in group and community settingsAbility to plan, schedule and coordinateSupply ManagementOrganizationIntegrityReporting skillsStrong attention do detailQuality FocusedExcellent communication skills in person, on the phone and in written communicationsFlexibility in a rapidly growing and changing work environmentStrong attention to detailExceptional customer service skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality of financial and clinical informationExcellent listenerEducation/ExperienceAssociates Degree PreferredSatisfactory completion of Pharmacy Technician Certification Program1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy TechnicianEquivalent combination of education and experiencePhysical RequirementsFull range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye–hand coordinationStanding and walking frequently and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 poundsFrequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical settingSome travel within western North CarolinaWork EnvironmentFast paced work environment.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions, subject to reasonable accommodations.
