Engineering Technician I

Engine Test Technicians are needed to work in the Engine Dyno lab in Dearborn, MI. This position is for individuals with automotive knowledge and experience and is open to day‑shift workers (7AM – 3:30PM). Responsibilities Conduct wide variety of non‑procedural gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer testing. Support development, durability, and performance testing in an engine dynamometer facility. Collect, review, and validate data for accuracy and completeness and make recommendations to engineering. Fabricate basic fixtures. Interface with Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates/new test procedures, equipment, and methods. Verify calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems. Install engines on the dynamometer, locate instrumentation, diagnose or troubleshoot problems, conduct tests, change engine parts if necessary, and remove engines and instrumentation. Qualifications High School Diploma. Good interpersonal, computer, oral, and written skills. Knowledge of engines and powertrain. Desired – Working toward an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology or related field, or equivalent testing experience in gasoline and diesel engine testing. Preferred – Experience in engines/powertrain dynamometer testing or other similar testing techniques. Physical Demands & Essential Functions Able to lift 50lbs, including engine parts such as intakes, exhaust parts, heads, drive shafts, and other related parts. Work requires manual labor and involves bending, stooping, standing, and occasional climbing or crawling. Cover an 8‑hour day shift (Monday‑Friday) with possible weekend coverage. Maintain safety equipment (safety glasses, slip‑resistant footwear, gloves, long pants, short‑sleeve shirts). Work in a high‑noise environment; hearing protection may be required. Pass pre‑employment drug screening, health performance evaluation, and background check. Demonstrate professional behavior and clear communication skills in English.
