Position Type: Special Education Services Date Posted: 7/1/2026 Location: Pasco Closing Date: 07/15/2026 Department: Special Services Department Reports To: Executive Director of Special Services Classification: Classified FLSA Non-Exempt Schedule: Mon-Fri (7.5hrs. per day/180 days typical school year late August - mid June) Salary Range: $40,297.50 (step 1/year 1) SUMMARY: The School Psychologist Intern provides psychological, educational, behavioral, and consultation services to students under the supervision of a credentialed School Psychologist. As part of a regional team dedicated to removing barriers, building capacity, and improving outcomes for students across southeastern Washington, the Intern School Psychologist supports student success through comprehensive evaluations, data-based decision making, consultation, behavioral and mental health supports, and systems-level problem solving. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive training experience across assessment, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), special education, behavioral supports, crisis response, and educational leadership while serving a diverse region of 23 urban, suburban, and rural school districts. Interns receive intensive mentoring from experienced practitioners and gain opportunities to collaborate with school psychologists, special education directors, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams while participating in MTSS and Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) implementation efforts at both the student and systems levels. This position provides broad exposure to assessment, consultation, behavioral and mental health services, and educational systems work, preparing future school psychologists for successful professional practice. Successful interns may be considered for future employment opportunities within ESD 123 and participating school districts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An unconditional belief in the potential of every student. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards Conduct psychoeducational evaluations under the supervision of a credentialed School Psychologist. Assist with the collection, interpretation, and integration of assessment data from multiple sources. Participate in eligibility determination meetings and multidisciplinary evaluation teams. Assist in the development of evaluation reports and recommendations. Conduct classroom observations and gather information related to student academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive functioning. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to address student needs. Support MTSS and problem-solving teams through data collection, analysis, and intervention planning. Assist with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Provide consultation regarding academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health concerns. Support crisis response activities as directed by supervising staff. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings and planning processes. Assist with progress monitoring and data-based decision making. Utilize culturally responsive and equitable practices in assessment and consultation. Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Participate in supervision meetings, professional development activities, and internship training requirements. Demonstrate professionalism through effective communication, organization, collaboration, and ethical decision making. Maintain confidentiality and follow all Board policies and procedures. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Performs related duties as assigned. Provide required reports according to agency, district, and OSPI policies and deadlines; Ensure compliance with HIPPAA, FERPA, state and federal confidentiality, data reporting requirements, and laws. Related duties as required are duties that may not be specifically listed in the Position Description but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Enrollment in a Washington State-approved School Psychology graduate program. Eligibility to obtain and maintain Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Intern Certification as a School Psychologist. Successful completion of all prerequisite coursework required by the university internship program. Knowledge of educational assessment principles and practices. Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, educators, and community partners. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data. Ability to work independently while accepting supervision and feedback. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Commitment to culturally responsive and equitable educational practices. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience working with children or youth in educational, behavioral, counseling, or mental health settings. Experience conducting educational assessments. Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams. Experience supporting students with disabilities and diverse learning needs Experience within MTSS, RTI, or PBIS frameworks. Familiarity with Washington State special education regulations and procedures Bilingual and biliterate skills in English and Spanish. COMPENSATION Paid once a month on the last working day of the month. Receives an average monthly gross paycheck based on the number of days and hours assigned to the work calendar (Sept 01-Aug 31) and placement on the salary schedule. A full work calendar for this position is 180days and 7.5hours per day. Below is an example of a gross monthly paycheck for a full work year: $3,358.13 (step 1/year 1) This amount may increase or decrease slightly based on hiring date and months remaining in the work calendar (Sept 01-Aug 31).
