Position Summary This position primarily oversees UNMC key shop responsibilities including key inventory, cutting keys by code, building key cores, and servicing lock and door hardware. Additionally provides technical oversight and acts as the subject matter expert for all lock/key/door hardware at UNMC and for the key technician position at UNO. As the campus continues to grow, all new facilities, both University and Nebraska Medicine, will employ the Stanley Best/Dorma Kaba keying system instead of the Schlage system used exclusively at Nebraska Medicine. This position must work closely with patient care departments and project management to ensure proper access and security needs are met. Responsibilities Oversee key inventory and key cutting operations. Build key cores and service lock and door hardware. Provide technical oversight and subject matter expertise on lock/key/door hardware for UNMC, UNO, and Nebraska Medicine facilities. Collaborate with patient care departments and project management to meet access and security requirements. Required Qualifications High School education or equivalent. At least 3 years of experience in key/door maintenance. Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Extensive knowledge of key and door maintenance and operations. Strong organizational skills and ability to meet expectations. Effective communication skills with customers (patients, visitors, management). Basic email and database skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must maintain insurability. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree or equivalent. Certified locksmith training and experience from Dorma Kaba, Stanley Best, or Schlage. Experience with Archibus work order system.
