Job OverviewOur organization is in search of a committed Director of Nursing to oversee the Oncology Unit at the Morris Cancer Center.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in acute nursing, including at least one year in a nursing department role.
- At least one year of leadership experience in Bone Marrow Transplant and Oncology.
- Preferred certifications include OCN, BMT Certification, and ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate, or to be obtained within one year.
- Additional certifications as mandated by law, statute, or regulation for the area of specialization.
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs is required.
- Full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week.
- Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care that is appropriate for all patients within the unit, adhering to the hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and program plans.
- Contributes to the establishment of patient care standards, orientation, and ongoing education.
- Assesses staff performance in line with organizational policies.
- Develops, implements, and manages the unit's budget.
- Engages in nursing quality assurance activities.
- Oversees unit administration, including scheduling and the management of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains clinical and management skills, staying informed about current trends and issues in the healthcare sector, serving as a resource for staff and colleagues.
- Provides nursing administrative coverage as needed.
- Encourages staff involvement in Nursing Quality improvement initiatives and identifies trends related to quality patient occurrences, Incident Reports, and patient care outcomes; prepares reports and statistics as necessary, and develops, supervises, or participates in implementing changes aimed at enhancing patient care.
- Participates in the formulation, execution, and assessment of hospital policies and procedures concerning nursing practice and personnel management.
- Reviews, analyzes, updates, and implements action plans to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
