Non CDL DriverThe job of Non CDL Driver is responsible for operating school transportation vehicles which may include vans and small bus vehicles for student transportation providing safe transportation services to and from school, extra-curricular activities, and other special assignments for Pendergast School District students.Required Qualifications:High school diploma, GED or equivalentMust be 21 years of age and possess a valid Arizona driver's licenseExemplary driving record with no more than 6 points in the past 24 months or repeated violations in the past 10 years. 36 month driving record must be obtained from the Motor Vehicle Department annuallyMust obtain and maintain CPR and first-aid certificationMust pass ADOT physical examination and drug screeningMust be in good physical healthAbility to work an alternate schedule when neededKnowledge of Metro Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale and PeoriaMust complete van driver training class with the exception of completion of the CDLValid Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP)Job related experienceSuch alternatives to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent/Designee may find appropriate and acceptableEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains punctual and regular attendance for the purpose of ensuring the necessary personnel to transport studentsTransports students to and from school, extracurricular activities and special assignments following established routes for the purpose of students arriving safelyPerforms daily pre- and post-trip inspections; check fluid levels and condition of vehicle before, during and after every run for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staffObserve all mandatory safety regulations published by District policyMonitor and maintain student discipline; submit written referrals when appropriateAdminister first-aid when necessary for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staffAssists special education bus attendants for the purpose of providing for special needs of students during transport, safe ingress (entering) and egress (exiting), including emergency situations and normal transportAble to react professionally and responsibly in an emergency for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staffCleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicleFuels assigned vehicles for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating conditionPrepares reports (e.g. transportation log, inspection log, inspection sheets, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established state and/or District requirementsSubmit to random periodic and post-accident drug/alcohol testing for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staffParticipate in department meetings and training for the purpose of staff developmentReport all citations and accidents, complete required forms for the purpose of keeping accurate documentationMaintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents and school issuesPerform responsibilities in an ethical and professional mannerPerform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/DesigneeAbilities:Strong organizational and interpersonal skillsDemonstrates successful teamwork and collaboration skillsDemonstrates strong communication skills, writing competency, effective listening and presentation skillsSelf-motivated, highly organized and detail-orientedAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, parents, students and external organizations, representing diverse populationsProfessional demeanor with strong ethical standards and ability to adapt to changeProven ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment on multiple projects simultaneously, both as a team member and individuallyEvaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administration and the community.Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
