Recreation Specialist (#014300) Kershaw Correctional Inst, Kershaw (LANCASTER) Level 2

Job Responsibilities

• Plan coordinate develop implement and monitor a comprehensive recreation plan that identifies activities for the entire institutional inmate population.

• Conduct physical fitness wellness and health education classes.

• Coordinate volunteers and community resources to assist in these areas.

• Select train and provide daily supervision of the inmate recreation assistants initiate and supervise tournament activities supervise hobbycraft programs and IRC program.

• Design and implement recreation program for the special needs inmate population.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and relevant experience or a bachelors degree in physical education recreation therapeutic recreation or a related field can be substituted for experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and two (2) years experience in the recreation field.

• A bachelors degree in physical education recreation therapeutic recreation or a related field can be substituted for experience.
