Registered Nurse - Critical Care

Job Summary Provides direct nursing care in settings where patients require complex assessments and interventions. Care is delivered in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Responsibilities Obtain comprehensive data from patients, family, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic picture of patient needs. Analyze and synthesize assessment data to determine relevant diagnoses or conditions. Identify optimal outcomes in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional team. Develop and implement care plans, employing strategies to promote a safe environment and coordinate with the care team. Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, maintaining current knowledge and competence. Communicate effectively in all areas of practice and collaborate with the interprofessional team. Use clinical inquiry and integrate best evidence into practice, applying evidence-based knowledge to critical care nursing practice. Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or educational equivalency for licensing. Licensing Requirements Required certifications depend on state of work location. Illinois: BLS HCP, RN, and ALS (or EQUIVALENTS such as ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC, NRP Essentials). Missouri: BLS HCP, RN, and ALS (or equivalent). Oklahoma: BLS HCP, RN (issued by Compact State or Oklahoma Board of Nursing), and ALS (or equivalent). Wisconsin: BLS HCP, RN (issued by Compact State or Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services), and ALS (or equivalent). Physical Requirements Constant use of speech, standing, and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 25 lbs and moving of patients. Frequent sitting, reaching, keyboard use, vision, smell, and hearing requirements. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and driving.
