Location Paradise Honors Middle School Qualifications Ability to organize and supervise a sports program. Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport. Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport; must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions. Must have or be willing to obtain NFHS Coaching Fundamentals, NFHS Concussion Education, and First Aid/CPR. Reports To The District Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director and the respective principal. Job Goal To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success, while demonstrating behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment. The coach must upgrade knowledge through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, and advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches in conjunction with the District Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, and principal. General The success of athletic programs strongly influences community image; public exposure and pressure for winning performance must not override objectives of sportsmanship and mental health. The position includes time extension, injury risk, and due process issues. This job description provides sufficient guidance; in unspecified cases, a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment. Duties and Responsibilities Have thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Paradise Schools board and responsible for implementation by the entire sports program staff. Have knowledge of CAA, Greathearts, or AIA bylaws; interpret and implement them consistently. Understand the administrative chain of communication and refer requests or grievances through proper channels. Be aware of all public/staff/department meetings that require attendance.
