Remote/Hybrid CAD Operator III, Electrical

Cad Operator III, Electrical Summary Utilizing computer aided design (CAD) systems, the CAD Operator III, Electrical will transform initial rough product designs or sketches into system, equipment or installation drawings. Must have a competent understanding of a CAD system in compliance with the company’s production and design standards, prepare advanced drafting assignments, support Designers, Engineers, Project Managers and other CAD Operators, and operate peripheral equipment such as printers, copiers, plotters and other drawing reproduction equipment. This is a non‑exempt position. The role receives assignments from the Design Department Coordinator and reports administratively to the Vice President of Engineering. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in an associated area or Associate’s Degree in computer-aided drafting, or equivalent experience Six years or more of CAD electrical experience Able to complete work assignments on time consistently with a strong emphasis on technical accuracy and overall attention to detail Excellent written and oral communication skills Thorough understanding of electrical distribution equipment Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures related to computer-aided design within the electrical design field Proficient in reading, understanding, and producing electrical layouts and diagrams Ability to review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established CAD standards Complete understanding of various types of electrical drawings such as P&ID’s, single-line diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and power plans Participates in departmental cross‑training instruction Responsibilities Revises/changes drawings, traces and/or copies of existing drawings Creates engineering drawings, designs, and layouts from rough sketches, engineering notes, equipment drawings and verbal instruction Creates complicated electrical installation designs and layouts Generates new and as-built documentation Corrects and updates design documents (electrical layouts, control diagrams, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, schematics and panel schedules) Assembles construction drawing packages (photocopying, binding) Understands and follows company drawing standards and procedures for sheet layouts Maintains project drawing files, drawing library and associated records and documentation Consults with project managers, engineers, designers, and other CAD operators as part of the design team Relies on instructions and pre-established CAD guidelines to perform tasks Converts limited verbal and written directions into a finished product or document Works on several concurrent projects Assists in maintaining schedules Familiar with safety equipment, uses it as required, complies with company safety policies and demonstrates awareness and concern for safety of self and co-workers at all times Answerable for assigned responsibilities Develops and maintains professional, cooperative, positive relationships with colleagues Sets high expectations of performance for self, strives for accuracy, attention to detail, completes tasks per schedule, takes proactive actions to respond promptly and in appropriate capacity necessary to meet project demands Communicates timely, clearly, and to the point; respects other people’s opinion, shows excellent listening skills and comprehension Maintains professionalism, tactfulness, strong client relationships, and sensitivity to client needs Identifies and clarifies the problem, gathers and assesses causes and solutions, derives well‑reasoned conclusions, tests against relevant criteria and standards, and chooses the best alternative Is organized, tidy, on time, quiet, non-intrusive, productive and maintains composure and professionalism under stress Treats people with respect and honesty, keeps commitments Seeks and acquires maximum self‑improvement Complies with Morrow Engineering, Inc. policies and procedures Works within a flexible schedule to respond to project assignments and to achieve project goals Develops skills to organize and conduct effective, productive and results‑oriented meetings Participates in departmental cross‑training instruction Works on several concurrent projects Assists in maintaining schedules Is willing to travel as required to meet project requirements Is effective with subordinates, good at communication, patience, planning, clear instruction, courteous, gives credit where due, provides regular ongoing feedback and promotes teamwork Location Preferences Prefer for the candidate to reside either in Wichita, KS or Colorado Springs, CO.
