Ophthalmic TechnicianAn Ophthalmic Technician assists ophthalmologists in delivering comprehensive eye care to patients. They are responsible for conducting diagnostic tests, maintaining medical records, and ensuring the smooth operation of a clinical setting. This role requires a combination of technical skills, patient interaction, and administrative duties to support eye care treatment plans and improve patient outcomes.Essential ResponsibilitiesEssential ResponsibilitiesPerforming diagnostic tests such as visual field testing and optical coherence tomography (OCT)Measuring and recording patients' visual acuity and eye pressureAssisting with minor surgical procedures and administering eye medications as directed by the ophthalmologistPerforming Manifest RefractionsPreparing examination rooms and ensuring all equipment is sterilized and operationalCollecting patient medical histories and preparing them for the ophthalmologistEducating patients about eye care, treatment plans, and medication usageManaging patient records and ensuring accurate data entry into medical software systemsPerforming contact lens evaluations and fittingsAssisting in the fitting and adjusting of corrective eyewearScheduling patient appointments and managing the daily calendarManaging inventory of medical supplies and ordering new stock as neededCollaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for patientsQualificationsQualificationsExperience in an ophthalmology or optometry settingProficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systemsKnowledge of common ophthalmic diagnostic equipmentStrong patient care and customer service skillsExcellent organizational and multitasking abilitiesBasic understanding of medical terminology specific to ophthalmologyHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to work well in a team environmentStrong communication skillsAttention to detailManual dexterity and hand-eye coordinationAbility to follow detailed instructions and protocolsBasic computer skillsWork Environment & ScheduleWork Environment & ScheduleFull-time, on-site position.Monday through Friday schedule.Must be able to accommodate occasional late office hours as needed.Fast-paced medical office environment supporting a two-provider ophthalmology practice.Pay Rate: $27-$31 per hour
