Paralegal

ROLE

We need an experienced Paralegal at the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Colorado. The USAO prosecutes and defends cases on behalf of the federal government, and its Civil Division represents the United States in civil cases filed against it in the District of Colorado. In this role, you will support Assistant United States Attorneys by conducting research, organizing cases, tracking court deadlines, preparing pleadings, reviewing documents, and preparing exhibits needed to represent the federal government in litigation. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reviews and organizes large quantities of emails and other documents.
\n
• Creates and uses spreadsheets and databases.
\n
• Gathers factual information and material, including agency records, court records, and other public records.
\n
• Reads, analyzes, and summarizes court pleadings, court orders, transcripts, files, and other factual materials, and drafts memoranda as needed.
\n
• Works with federal agencies to locate and organize information and ensure compliance with court orders.
\n
• Performs specialized factual and legal research and writes memoranda.
\n
• Tracks court-imposed deadlines and assists in preparing pleadings.
\n
• Provides automated litigation assistance to attorneys for briefs, presentations, and hearings.
\n
• Prepares documents, exhibits, charts, and visual materials using various software applications and graphics hardware such as scanners.
\n
• Provides technical support, including enlarging charts and photographs, duplicating tapes and videos, and marking exhibits.
\n
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

\n
• Paralegal Certification or Associate’s or Bachelor’s in a related field – strongly preferred
\n
• Relevant paralegal work experience.
\n
• Strong writing, organizational, and computer skills.
\n
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
\n
• Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate Department of Justice security clearance.
\n
• Experience reviewing large quantities of documents – strongly preferred
\n

COMPENSATION

• Base Hourly Wage: $31.64 per hour
\n
• Health & Welfare (Benefits rate): $5.42 per hour
\n

Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
