Shipping Associate

The Shipping Associate manages all incoming and outgoing merchandise to support efficient warehouse and manufacturing operations. This role prepares and processes shipments, maintains accurate shipping and receiving records, and ensures that all materials move safely and efficiently through the facility. The Shipping Associate uses various shipping systems and warehouse equipment to handle products, including hazardous materials, in a precise and compliant manner.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, and process outgoing shipments according to company procedures and carrier requirements.
• Receive incoming merchandise, verify contents against documentation, and accurately record all received items.
• Use shipping systems such as FedEx Ship Manager and UPS WorldShip to create labels, schedule pickups, and track shipments.
• Handle shipping and receiving of hazardous materials (hazmat) in compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts to load, unload, and move materials safely.
• Perform material handling tasks, including organizing, staging, and relocating inventory within the warehouse and manufacturing areas.
• Load and unload trucks and other delivery vehicles, ensuring products are handled carefully to prevent damage.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipping, receiving, and inventory records, including data entry into MRP systems when required.
• Inspect packages and materials for damage, discrepancies, or quality issues and report any problems promptly.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely shipment and receipt of materials needed for manufacturing and customer orders.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working with hazardous materials and operating equipment.
• Support general warehouse housekeeping by keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including packaging and material handling.
• Ability to operate warehouse machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
• Experience using FedEx Ship Manager and UPS WorldShip for processing shipments.
• Knowledge of shipping hazardous materials (hazmat) and related safety practices.
• Familiarity with MRP systems for tracking and managing inventory and shipments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and recordkeeping.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external carriers.
• Ability to physically handle packages and move products for up to 10 hours a day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Experience with UPS and FedEx shipping platforms and processes.
• Background in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures, especially when handling hazmat materials.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment that also includes warehouse operations. The Shipping Associate works around production and storage areas, frequently using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks and interacting with shipping stations and computer systems. The position involves being on your feet for extended periods and handling physical tasks throughout the shift, while working in a clean, organized, and safety-focused facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ewing, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
