Research Assistant - Unmasked

Overview Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking an Unmasked Research Assistant to join our innovative team with the mission of Fighting Blindness For The World To See. This position will be responsible for assisting in research patient visits according to ICH-GCP guidelines and according to the IRB-approved study protocol and/or manual of procedures. Day-to-day activities may include all or some of the essential functions listed below, depending upon individual experience/knowledge and the needs of the organization, which are subject to change from time to time. This position will be based out of our Bryan location. Candidates must be able to meet the needs of the patients and providers, and support the Research Department hours of 6:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Schedules are provided weekly and are based on the provider's clinic, patient and surgery schedules. Responsibilities Conducts safe and appropriate aseptic and sterile field techniques Assist Coordinator in monitoring subject flow and assist in subject care and management Observe, assist, collect, and record all necessary data for follow up (E.g. Adverse Events, concomitant medications, etc.) study visits (Phase 2 & 3; No Gene Therapy) Ensure that treatment room is fully stocked with ancillary supplies ahead of each day Explain treatment processes and procedures to study subjects Set up, prepare subject, and assist in administration of treatment on subjects as required per study protocol and pharmacy/procedure manual Promptly report treatment-related Adverse Events (to include medication errors) to an appropriate unmasked RA (Level II/III Preferred) Assist in collection of aqueous humor samples for analysis Perform intraocular pressure checks after injections Perform post-treatment procedures (finger count, hand motion, light perception) Monitor on-site temperature for all equipment and document daily logs (if applicable) Daily calibration of tonopens Perform other duties as assigned Obtain any applicable additional/required sponsor training and or Certifications Ensure all instruments used by UM team is accounted for and properly sterilized Qualifications Skills/Competencies: Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications Possesses excellent organizational skills to independently manage workflow Pay meticulous attention to detail Takes initiative Possesses insight and energy to prioritize quickly Demonstrates high-level critical thinking skills Cooperates with supervisory staff, physicians, peers external customers, and patients in a positive, energetic, and professional manner Demonstrates excellence in communication skills, both personal and written Abounds in organizational and time-management skills, to include multi-tasking Education Requirements: High School diploma or the equivalent required, with 3 years ophthalmology experience College Degree Preferred Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods of time Must be able to write Must be able to hold arms at shoulder height Must be able to communicate via telephone Must have manual dexterity to work with ophthalmic equipment #J-18808-Ljbffr Retina Consultants Houston
