About the Position We are building our Visitor Experience team at the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream (MCAAD). As a Gallery Guide, you will be the face of the visitor center, working directly with visitors on the exhibition floor, sharing stories, facilitating tours, and supporting daily operations. You will receive comprehensive training in exhibition content, operational processes, and visitor experience best practices. Responsibilities Provide a welcoming, engaging, and excellent visitor experience from entry to exit for all visitors. Actively greet visitors, provide orientation to the Center, and help plan their visit. Distribute, sell, and validate tickets for general admission, special experiences, and public programs. Support visitors through security screening and help maintain safe spaces. Monitor and manage visitor flow through entrances, exhibitions, and groups. Facilitate tours, pop‑up activities, and object talks with guests. Engage visitors in informal conversation about the exhibition. Assist with hands‑on activities for public programs and support group visits with the education team. Communicate visitor guidelines and support security staff in ensuring safety. Report issues such as exhibit repair or maintenance to the team manager. Connect visitors with accessibility features and offerings. Attend daily morning meetings to receive the schedule and operational notes. Report key metrics and operational successes or challenges. Follow the daily rotation schedule, performing all duties of assigned posts. Support opening, closing, and general day‑to‑day operations of the Center. Assist with visitor flow for public programs and special events. Troubleshoot routine visitor issues and elevate challenging situations. Adhere to uniform and appearance guidelines. Keep communications up to date with colleagues. Maintain visitor feedback card inventory and disinfect high‑touch surfaces. Holodeck Experience Facilitation (support role) Describe the experience and answer visitor inquiries. Engage visitors in a friendly, welcoming manner. Facilitate ticket sales and check‑in. Participate in the Holodeck Experience under the Lead Engineer’s guidance. Follow safety and security guidelines. Collaborate with colleagues across departments. Support special visitor requests from MCAAD staff. Requirements Healthy sense of humor, enthusiasm for engaging with others, and ownership of duties. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service. Experience in visitor service at a museum, history center, science center, or public‑facing cultural organization is preferred; other customer‑service experience is welcomed. Internship experience considered. Ability to adhere to a rotating schedule and maintain punctuality. Adaptability to support changing visitor, group, and organizational needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Background or interest in the Center’s mission pillars (health, education, finance, entrepreneurship) is beneficial. Capacity to build positive working relationships, support colleagues, and thrive in a fast‑paced, creative environment. Working Conditions All work will take place on‑site in a public visitor center. Availability on weekends, occasional evenings, and holidays is required. The schedule for this role is Thursday–Monday, 9:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Physical aspects include standing or walking for extended periods and moving equipment such as signage and chairs on a cart. All Gallery Guides must adhere to the Center’s dress code. Some work may be outdoors during busy seasons.
