Minimum Years of Experience 2 years Certifications/Requirements BLS/BCLS ACLS Job Description The Radiation Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse who plays a vital collaborative role within the Radiation Oncology Team, ensuring continuity and quality patient care. This position focuses on assessing and implementing nursing interventions for patients facing challenges related to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Key responsibilities include: Assessing patient needs and providing appropriate nursing interventions. Teaching, counseling, and offering support to patients and their families to help them cope with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Assisting the Radiation Oncologist in the evaluation and examination of patients. Acting as a liaison between Radiation Oncology and other departments, including hospitals, physicians’ offices, and support groups. Identifying and making referrals for alternative resources related to recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services. Education and Qualifications Current RN license in good standing in Colorado. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association. Current ACLS certification through the American Heart Association. Experience Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in Radiation Oncology; medical oncology experience is not applicable. Skills Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for interdisciplinary teamwork. Proficient in coordinating oncology patient care with various healthcare professionals. Flexibility and excellent organizational skills. Comprehensive knowledge of chronic illness management and associated comorbidities. Current understanding of trends, procedures, and protocols in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine.
