Title: Education Adjunct Agency: Brightpoint Community College Location: Chesterfield - 041 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: $793-$1,693 per credit hour. Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Additional Detail Job Description: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. General Information: The Division of Art, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Adjunct Faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within the VCCS. Responsibilities Brightpoint Community College invites applicants to apply for Education adjunct position to teach courses in education that prepare students for a career working with young children in a variety of early care and education settings or for transfer into baccalaureate programs at participating universities. Course content focuses on pre-K through high school. Teaching assignments include a combination of day and evening classes in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats on either the Chester or Midlothian campus of the college. Courses offered in the discipline include the following: Foundations of Education, Foundations of Exceptional Education, Teaching in a Diverse Society, Human Growth and Development, Classroom and Behavioral Management, and Health, Safety, and Nutrition Education. Minimum Qualifications: Required : Minimum of a Master’s degree in Education, or equivalent, from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field. A minimum of two years of related occupational experience, with strong current knowledge of best practices in the field. Proven expertise in education. Additional Considerations: Relevant college-level teaching experience with a diverse student population. Training/certification to teach online and hybrid courses.
