Role Description The Registered Veterinary Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at South Park Animal Hospital in San Francisco, CA. This role includes providing high-quality nursing care to patients, assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures, and monitoring animals before, during, and after surgery. Daily responsibilities include performing technical tasks such as administering medications, collecting and processing laboratory samples, operating diagnostic equipment, and maintaining accurate medical records. The technician supports anesthesiology and pain management protocols, ensures a clean and safe clinical environment, and participates in patient triage for urgent and primary care visits. The role also involves educating clients about treatment plans, preventative care, and home pet care, while contributing to a culture of teamwork, compassion, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including handling, restraint, and monitoring of patients in a clinical setting. Proficiency in Veterinary Technology, such as performing diagnostics, administering treatments, and supporting surgical procedures. Knowledge of Anesthesiology, including anesthetic induction, monitoring, recovery, and adherence to safety protocols. Experience with Client Education, including explaining medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care in clear, accessible language. Current registration or licensing as a Veterinary Technician (RVT or equivalent) in California or eligibility to obtain it. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Comfort with urgent care settings, including patient triage and prioritization, is highly beneficial. Familiarity with electronic medical records and standard veterinary practice software is an advantage.
