Job Description:\n\nJob Title: Assistant Project Manager – Construction & Data Center ProjectsJob Description The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex data center construction projects from design through commissioning and closeout. This role serves as a central point for project information, documentation, and communication, working closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality expectations. The position is based onsite in Phoenix and offers the opportunity to gain owner-side experience on large, technologically advanced, mission-critical infrastructure projects.ResponsibilitiesSupport project managers with day-to-day project planning, execution, and delivery activities across the full project lifecycle, including startup, mobilization, execution, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.Assist in developing and maintaining project execution plans, schedules, and work plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategic priorities.Coordinate project activities among multiple stakeholders and disciplines, including contractors, consultants, designers, vendors, and internal project teams.Monitor project milestones, deliverables, and key performance indicators, and help ensure project goals and objectives are met.Support schedule management by tracking progress against baseline schedules, monitoring critical and near-critical path activities, and identifying schedule risks, delays, and constraints.Coordinate the collection of schedule and progress updates from team members and contractors, and assist in preparing schedule updates, recovery plans, and forecasting reports.Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking by monitoring expenditures against approved budgets and tracking commitments, purchase orders, invoices, and overall project costs.Support financial reporting and budget updates, review invoices and supporting documentation for completeness, and help manage change management and cost control processes.Maintain accurate project records and documentation by organizing files, correspondence, reports, meeting records, and formal submissions, and managing document control processes and repositories.Track document review and approval workflows, maintain project logs and registers, ensure version control, and support project audits, compliance reviews, turnover, and closeout documentation.Assist with contract administration by supporting the management of project contracts and service agreements, tracking contract deliverables and obligations, and maintaining contract-related records and status trackers.Support procurement and vendor coordination activities, monitor the status of submittals, requests, and approvals, and help prepare commercial documentation and project summaries.Identify, document, and track project risks and issues by maintaining risk registers and issue logs, monitoring mitigation actions, and assisting in evaluating project impacts and potential solutions.Coordinate issue resolution efforts across project teams, escalate high-priority concerns to project leadership, and support contingency planning, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.Serve as a point of coordination among project participants, facilitating communication between project teams and stakeholders and promoting collaboration and alignment across disciplines.Prepare clear and professional project status updates, reports, presentations, executive summaries, and briefings to support informed decision-making.Coordinate project meetings, workshops, and reviews by preparing agendas and materials, recording minutes and action items, and tracking completion of follow-up activities.Develop weekly, monthly, and ad hoc project reports, maintain project dashboards and performance metrics, and consolidate updates from project teams and vendors for leadership review.Support design and construction activities by reviewing project information for completeness and consistency, participating in project reviews, inspections, site walks, and monitoring progress against project objectives.Track submittals, requests for information (RFIs), drawings, and technical documentation, and support management of field observations, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities.Assist with quality management by supporting implementation of project quality standards and processes, participating in quality inspections, audits, and reviews, and tracking quality issues and corrective actions.Monitor completion of punch-list and deficiency items, maintain quality documentation and reporting records, and support development of quality-related metrics and continuous improvement efforts.Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility by supporting compliance with safety requirements and procedures and participating in safety meetings and site reviews.Escalate observed safety concerns through appropriate channels, monitor completion of safety-related action items, and support safety reporting, documentation, and proactive hazard identification.Maintain situational awareness across safety, quality, schedule, budget, procurement, and stakeholder commitments, ensuring leadership has an accurate picture of project progress and emerging risks.Act as a central point through which project information flows by documenting decisions, tracking commitments, following up on action items, and facilitating communication among all parties involved in project delivery.Review and organize project documentation such as schedules, submittals, RFIs, design documents, change requests, invoices, cost reports, meeting minutes, and status reports, ensuring completeness and accuracy.Update project trackers and dashboards regularly, maintain records that support project execution and reporting, and identify trends that could affect project performance.Help maintain strong stakeholder relationships by encouraging accountability, supporting conflict resolution, and contributing to a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Contribute to successful project outcomes related to safety, quality, schedule, budget, communication, and operational readiness through timely completion of construction project coordination and administration, including coordinating project activities, managing action items, and supporting project delivery teams.2–4+ years of experience in schedule management and project controls, including reviewing and tracking construction schedules, monitoring milestones, maintaining trackers and dashboards, and identifying schedule risks or delays using tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.3–5+ years of experience in construction documentation and change management, including managing submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, change orders, invoices, purchase orders, project records, and document control systems.Typical software knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software for construction projects.Familiarity with SharePoint or similar document management platforms.Experience using project management information systems (PMIS), collaboration and communication platforms, financial tracking and reporting systems, document control systems, construction management software, and reporting and dashboard tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.Relevant experience in project management, construction, engineering, or operations, ideally supporting complex design and construction projects.Experience supporting large, complex, multi-stakeholder projects, such as large capital projects or mission-critical facilities.Knowledge of project lifecycle management principles and familiarity with design, construction, procurement, commissioning, and closeout processes.Background in construction management, engineering, architecture, project controls, or owner-side project management is highly valuable.Experience coordinating among contractors, consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders, with strong communication and issue-resolution capabilities.Experience with project scheduling, reporting, document control, change management, cost tracking, and meeting coordination.Professional certifications such as CAPM, PMP, CCM, PMI-SP, or equivalent are desirable.Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues and anticipate potential project impacts before they occur.Demonstrated ability to maintain organized, accurate, and current project information and produce reliable, actionable reporting to support decision-making.Work Environment This role is based onsite in Phoenix and typically involves a 40-hour work week with no scheduled overtime, supporting large, technologically advanced data center construction projects. The work environment combines office-based coordination with regular site walks, inspections, and field observations. You will use standard office and project tools, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software, SharePoint or other document management platforms, project management information systems, collaboration and communication tools, financial tracking systems, construction management software, and reporting and dashboard tools. The position requires the use of specific safety equipment when on site, including a monitor, keyboard, headset, mouse, Class 2 safety helmet, Class 2 or higher safety vest, cut and impact resistant gloves, ANSI Z87.1 or higher safety glasses or visor, composite toe work boots made of leather or leather alternative that extend at least four inches above the ankle, and a Class 2 or higher reflective jacket suitable for cold and wet weather.
